What does Connexions do?
The Northamptonshire Connexions Partnership involves a wide range of organisations that are committed to providing co-ordinated, continuously improving services for all young people aged 13 to 19 years old (and in some cases those aged up to 25) in order to:
- Bring out their full potential
- Help them to successfully move into adult life
- Enable them to get the most out of education, training and employment
How do they help?
From time to time, everybody needs to talk to somebody in confidence to help them resolve a problem, get advice and information, or just to feel that they are heading in the right direction for them.
No problem is ever too big (or too small!) to talk through with someone. Even if you feel you can't discuss it with your friends or family, there are plenty of people in Northamptonshire to offer you some practical advice to help you work it out.
For young people with statements of special educational need, Connexions offer advice and support through Personal Advisors, to help them move into adult life.
In addition a Personal Advisor will contribute to the Transition Plan at school in year 9, and complete an assessment with the young person in year 11. This assessment will look at the options after 16 and what support will be needed.
Connexions Direct
Connexions Direct is part of the Connexions service. It is completely confidential and you don't have to give your name, number or where you live.
It's available 8:00am to 2:00am - 365 days a year for all 13 to 19 years old.
It is staffed by trained Personal Advisers from different professional backgrounds, such as health, careers, relationships, drugs, sex etc.
