Reader Development Events
LRE Book Challenge
Annual children's literature inter-school quiz organised and created by LRE advisers and held in schools around the county. The next quiz will take place on March 9th 2010 at Sir Christopher Hatton School.

Kids Lit Quiz (KLQ)
Annual global children's literature quiz for Y7 & Y8. LRE host the Central England event whose winners go forward to the UK Final. This year's Central England quiz took place on November 20th at Roade School and Sports College. The winners were Wellingborough Preparatory School's Wellingborough Wordsmiths.

World Book Day
A worldwide celebration aimed at encouraging children to read for enjoyment. The next World Book Day will take place on March 5th, 2009.
National Poetry Day
An annual event which takes place every October. The website includes details of poetry events taking place in schools and libraries across the UK.
National Children's Bookweek
Officially held every October, this site has resources & information for planning a school book week for any time of the year.
Reader Development Organisations
The National Literacy Trust
(NLT)
is dedicated to raising literacy standards. Their website links to the National Reading Campaign, Reading is Fundamental and Reading Connects projects.
The BookTrust
The Book Trust provides information and help for students and teachers who want to find out more about children's books.
Enjoying Reading
Provides practical tools and support for joint work between school libraries, schools library services and public libraries.
