From the 1st September 2007 it became a statutory obligation to provide full-time education for any young person excluded from school for a single period over five days or permanently.

For secondary permanent exclusions, provision will now be made by Complementary Education PRU, (DCSF number 9281100).

For primary age pupils, provision will be made by Hospital and Outreach PRU (DCSF number 928 1105).
