Recycle Household Waste

Pre-sort your waste

Please remember to pre-sort your waste at home to make your visit to the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) quicker and easier. Please dispose of your waste in the appropriate recycling container.

What you can recycle at the centres

All of our HWRCs take the same range of recyclable materials. Please note that Wollaston is a recycling only site. The centres accept a large range of wastes for reuse and recycling including:  

Garden Waste Scrap Metal Aerosols Food Tins and Drinks Cans Foil Plastic Bottles
Cartons Cooking Oil Paper Cardboard Mobile Phones TVs and Monitors
Household Batteries Fluorescent Tubes Low Energy Lightbulbs Fridges and Freezers Large Appliances Small Appliances
Car Batteries Used Engine Oil Mixed Glass Clothes Shoes Textiles

 

 

Soil Rubble and Hardcore Wood & Timber Plasterboard Specific policy applies. Restrictions and charges may apply for large quantities. See DIY disposal information

 

 

Gas Bottles

Gas bottles can be disposed of at selected sites only: Corby, Daventry, Kettering, Sixfields, Rushden and Towcester.

Household Waste Any waste that cannot be recycled will be sent to landfill. Please note that Wollaston does not accept non-recyclable household waste.

Please note: 24hr recycling facilities may be available at local supermarkets.

Waste you can't take to the centre

There are some types of restricted waste which the centres cannot accept, these include:

  • Asbestos
  • Clinical waste
  • Caravans and trailers
  • Hazardous waste (Chemical, radioactive, etc)  
  • Motor vehicles
  • Tyres
