Girl recycling at school

Slim Your Bin @ School

The Slim Your Bin @ School Project is delivered by the Northamptonshire Waste Education Team based at County Hall in Northampton. The team is funded by the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, a partnership of all seven district and borough councils and Northamptonshire County Council.

The team consists of four experienced staff members, including one fully qualified teacher, that offer schools, community groups and volunteer organisations, lessons in waste awareness and the '3Rs' (reduce, reuse and recycle).

What our team offers local schools

  • Schools Waste Recycling Scheme
The schools recycling scheme offers schools a package to help collect and recycle a variety of materials straight from the classroom.

  • Schools Waste Education Workshops
A fully qualified teacher is available to visit all schools to deliver assemblies, lessons and workshops tailored to your school's needs.

  • Waste Education Bus
The Waste Education Bus can be booked to visit your primary school to deliver a curriculum focussed lesson tailored to your needs.

  • Waste Education Centre (WEC)
The WEC is based in the centre of Northampton and shows children what happens to their rubbish once it leaves their house and how we recycle it.
