What is an emergency?
Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 (Part 1) an emergency is defined as:
"An event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the UK, the environment or a place in the UK, or war or terrorism which threatens serious damage to the security of the UK."
An emergency could include a fire, traffic accident; act of terrorism, medical emergency, strike, utility failure, contamination, flood, extreme weather, the list goes on and on.
The Emergency Services in Northamptonshire:
These organisations will respond and deal with the immediate emergency, but often extra support is needed to help the Services and those affected by the incident. This is where the Northamptonshire Emergency Planning Team comes in.
