Parish Councils - Emergency Guidance

An emergency / major incident is any event or circumstance (happening with or without warning) that causes:

  • death or injury
  • disruption to the community
  • damage to property or to the environment

on such a scale that the effect cannot be dealt with by the emergency services, local authorities and other organisations as part of their normal day to day activities eg heavy snow, flooding, prolonged power failure etc.

It is possible that emergencies may occur in Northamptonshire where an emergency response to specific communities may be delayed. In this circumstance, affected parishes will benefit from having their own self help community plan.

To aid parish councils we have produced the following documents:

We work closely with the Northamptonshire County Association of Local CouncilsĀ and we will use them as a 'channel' for getting information to Parishes.

For further information and support please contact the Emergency Planning Team.
