Requirements:

Our much loved Early Years teacher is moving on and as a result of internal re-organisation we have a vacancy for a teaching post in Sparrow Class with our Lower Key Stage 2 pupils.  The class benefits from having a Teaching Assistant (with HLTA status) every morning. We are looking for a kind, resilient, hard-working and solidly good teacher. You will be able to build good, trusting relationships with parents. Above all, you will enjoy working creatively with children and getting the very best from them.

Our ideal candidate will have at least a year’s teaching experience, although we will also consider NQTs. You will be able to deliver high quality teaching to the children in your class which culminates in rapid, accelerated progress.

The successful applicant will also have the potential to lead a subject area across the Federation in the future, although it is not essential that you have already had this experience.

You will be able to use your initiative and will thrive on delegated leadership to support the Executive Headteacher to implement rapid, sustainable, consistent improvements to teaching and learning across the whole school. Our Headteacher is usually in school three days a week. You must be able to work alongside the Senior Teacher and other staff to ensure that the school runs smoothly on a daily basis. We have a dedicated, hard-working staff team and you will need to be prepared to be “hands on” with a wide variety of tasks outside of teaching in the classroom.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work in an idyllic and unique setting as part of a strong, committed staff team. There will be ample opportunity for you to grow and develop as a teacher in a happy, village school, with the benefits of collaborating with a wider Team across the Federation and Cluster. Visits to the school are very much encouraged.

Description:

We are a small, rural, village school with a superb team of friendly, dedicated and happy staff that gels very well together. Our Governors are supportive and friendly whilst maintaining a realistic level of challenge. We enjoy a good, supportive relationship with our federated partner colleagues from Great Creaton Primary School and we regularly meet for joint staff meetings and training. Subject Leaders carry out their roles across both schools and have time out of class to fulfil their duties. We all work hard and the children are at the heart of everything we do. Our headteacher is however very keen that we maintain a sensible work-life balance. Paperwork is kept to a minimum and staff meetings are held once a week. Our staffroom at break and lunchtimes is a friendly place to be; we have lots of laughter and banter.

This post, currently for lower Key Stage 2, would be ideal for someone who wants to have their contributions recognised, is keen to really get their teeth into moving a school forward so that it can be the very best it can be, and who relishes being able to use their expertise and passion for teaching in a way that not only brings about results, but that suits them as a teacher. Visits to the school are warmly invited and we are conveniently situated a few miles south of Market Harborough just off the A508 to Northampton.

Business Studies is also one of the most popular A Level subjects at the school.

THE BUSINESS STUDIES CURRICULUM

Students may opt to study GCSE Business Studies from Year 9. Students follow the AQA course, which is assessed through two examinations at the end of Year 11 and the completion of a piece of controlled assessment.

Students are arranged into mixed ability sets and receive 5 hours of teaching each fortnight. Usually, each class is taught by the same teacher for the full allocation of lessons. A range of resources and assessment materials have been developed by the department for use with GCSE classes.

Post 16

Students may opt to study Business Studies or Economics in the Sixth Form. It is usual for each class to have two teachers, with each specialising in delivering a different part of the specification. A Level Business Studies students follow the AQA specification whilst A Level Economics students follow the OCR course.

THE ICT DEPARTMENT

ICT is delivered both by ICT specialists, and by colleagues who have committed to deliver ICT as part of their teaching portfolio. There is strong support from the specialist members of staff in the department.  The ethos within the department is positive and mutually supportive and there is a strong commitment to developing and improving practice.

The main school has 3 dedicated ICT suites, in addition to the library / learning resource centre, each containing 30 Windows-based workstations with a further 15 station ICT suite used specifically for A Level delivery in the Sixth Form Centre.  Many subject areas also have access to Chromebooks.
