    Following a meeting today of the Safety Advisory Group – which is responsible for the safety of sports grounds within Northamptonshire – the group has decided that Kettering Town Football Club's fixture this Saturday against Telford must be played behind closed doors. Fans are advised not to travel to the game as entrance to the ground will not be permitted. Superintendent Sean Bell said: “In common with all police forces, Northamptonshire Police uses national guidance to charge for the policing of events.

    16 MONTHS ago police mounted a large-scale operation to combat the supply of drugs and drug-related activity in Corby, which put a stop to the activity of three of the town’s major drugs houses, and resulted in 17 search warrants being executed between 18 and 22 October 2010, 15 arrests, 26 charges and over 20 years worth of prison sentences. At the time, we pledged officers would continue to do everything in their powers to break down supply chains and the trade of drugs on a professionalised basis, often linked to additional serious criminality.

    Latest figures released by Northamptonshire Police show a continued decrease in anti-social behaviour across the county. There has been a reduction of 20.3% compared to the same 45 week period last year – a total of 8,316 fewer reported incidents (from 40,921 to 32,605.) Northampton has seen a 17.7% reduction (2,780 fewer incidents), Corby a 17.5% reduction (758 fewer incidents), Kettering a reduction of 25.

    FIVE people have been arrested today as part of Operation Guardian high impact day. Officers made four arrests in Northampton today in connection with a robbery that occurred at the Co-op in Kingsway, Wellingborough on Thursday 26 January. Two 21-year-old men, a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, all from Northampton were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They are currently in police custody.

    Following the severe weather on Saturday evening, Northamptonshire Police’s Force Control Room experienced extremely high call volumes with nearly 500 emergency 999 calls alone. The control room also received a high volume of calls in relation to people throwing snowballs. A total of 63 snowballing incidents were reported on Saturday with a further 158 reported on Sunday. A police spokesperson said: “We would advise people to only ring us in relation to snowballing if it seems the incident can only be dealt with by the police.
