A comprehensive database with information about local businesses and services in the UK is now available to all library users.

Northamptonshire County Council's 36 libraries have joined up with the Kompass, a business database that lists manufacturing and production companies in the UK.

Kompass will enable library users to access the database both in libraries and online, allowing them to get business information 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from home or in the office.

The database includes information essential for:

• Researching job opportunities.
• Finding trade/brand name owners.
• Locating difficult to source products.
• Checking a company's financial results.
• Researching before investing.

Councillor Andre Gonzalez de Savage, cabinet member for customers and communities said: "This service will add to the growing range of online resources available through county council libraries and promises to be an invaluable tool for anyone searching for business information."

Library users can log-in from home using their library card number by going to the library pages on this website.
