First for Wellbeing appoints Commsortia to deliver social wellbeing service

27/02/2017

First for Wellbeing has appointed membership organisation Northamptonshire Commsortia to deliver its social wellbeing service, it was announced today.

About the social wellbeing service

First for Wellbeing’s social wellbeing service is designed to combat social isolation and loneliness by working with people on an individual basis. By assessing social interests, goals and strengths, the service aims to link people with meaningful connections and activities in the community.

Currently delivered by a number of different organisations, the new appointment – made after a three month procurement process – will see Commsortia deliver the service as a lead provider from 1 April 2017 until March 2020.

First for Wellbeing Managing Director Janet Doran said the move to a single provider would allow the company to better streamline services, providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ offer to customers.

“The move to a sole provider, working with a strong and varied supplier network, will improve the overall delivery of the service, resulting in a true integration of organisations, pathways and functions – a one-stop-shop offer for Northamptonshire residents,” she said.

“In evaluating the responses to the tender it was Commsortia’s expertise in bringing together a range of voluntary and community organisations to deliver more complex services that really appealed to us.”

“We look forward to working with Commsortia over the coming years as we continue to evolve and advance our services to help even more people live a happier, healthier life,” she said.

Northamptonshire County Council cabinet member for public health and wellbeing Councillor Sylvia Hughes said:

"This is a significant next step for First for Wellbeing, enabling it to further develop its social wellbeing service to work with vulnerable people on an individual basis and help them to make the connections they need to live independently, feel less isolated and live safely and well - something we know is important to Northamptonshire residents."
