2014 Website Achievements

The website saw significant advances and achievements in 2014. Here are the major ones:

Online payments

Our e-payment engine was replaced. We now have a fully secure PCI compliant system. We are now busy exploiting this by adding new e-pay forms to our site, the first of which was the Non School Attendance e-form.

Online forms

We have built and improved many other standard e-forms, including the higher needs funding form.

Live chat

We have added live chat, allowing customers to interact with our customer service advisors without having to leave their PC.

Website content

Numerous content areas have been improved, out of date information taken off and more easy to understand customer journeys introduced. Examples of this are school admissions and the contact us page.

Two large directories were built as part of the development of our new website. These were for the Family Information Service allowing parents to search for child minders, children's activities etc. The second was the Local Offer, with services aimed at children 0-25 who have special educational needs.

New template

We are also rolling new websites out using our new template. This makes the site much more visual to help us promote our services better. An example is the Womens Tour.

Third party sites

We have also improved third party sites, working with the service to make the councillor and committee site more compatible with modern browsers to make it easier to find information.

We added a new self serve part to the site when Bus Pass applications went live.

Coverage of events

We also covered many mass participation events, from the 20 million steps initiative to the Gun Powder plot at Boughton House fire work and light show.

Improvements planned for 2015

2015 will be another busy year, some of the things we are working on include:

  • Customer survey form
  • Advertising
  • Volunteering site
  • Exploit our new website by moving parts of our old site over into it, including the schools directory which will be first up
