Q: How can I find out more about adopting a child?
A: Adoption is a means of building families, of providing for a child or children who cannot, for whatever reason, live with their birth family. An Adoption Order gives adoptive parents all the legal rights and responsibilities that had previously been held by the birth parents. Q: What should I do if I am worried about a child?
A: If you have any concern about a child's well-being please contact your local Social Services office and ask to speak to the duty officer. You can speak in confidence and if you wish not to give your name you do not have to. All child protection enquiries receive high priority and there will be a prompt response (i.e. within a working day) by a social worker to investigate further and gather more information. Q: Who can I speak to about child protection issues?
A: The Local Safeguarding Children Board Northamptonshire (LSCBN) is an interagency forum for agreeing how the different services and professional groups should co-operate to safeguard the children in our area, and for making sure that arrangements work effectively to bring about good outcomes for children.
