The Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) website has five main areas of navigation:
- The header contains the main telephone number and email address to contact us, NCC logo, search facility, and a tool bar which contains links to website help, site map, contact us, how to find us, and the breadcrumb trail. The breadcrumb trail is a navigation aid that shows you where you are on the website and allows you to quickly access upper levels of the site, eg
| You are here: Home > Website Help |
- The left hand side column contains the council's main menu, A-Z of services, frequently asked questions, news releases. There are also some links at the bottom of the menu that take to you other pages within the site and some external links.
- The middle column contains the main text area of the site and consists of the main content or information for the page. At the bottom of the page is the Related Links menu that contains links to external sites that are of some relevance to the page content. These links will all open in a new window. Occasionally there may be links to external sites within the content but these will still open in a new browser window.
- The right hand side column has a 'Pages in this section' menu which provides navigation for the section of the website you are in. You will also find contact details here for each individual page. On the home page there are links to the interactive mapping, online consultations, and interpreting service. There is also a link to our comments/complaints section, the In Northamptonshire online magazine and related links.
- The footer, at the bottom of the page, contains navigation links similar to the header which links to others areas of the site.
