Coronavirus update (28 April 2020)

During this period, we are making reasonable endeavours to support children and young people with SEND in our communities, and to protect from the coronavirus.

We are working hard to maintain the normal EHC Plan process, but it is likely that assessments for an EHC Plan may look a little different during this time, as face to face work can't take place. We are using video and phone calls wherever possible.

Our decision making panels are working online and continue to meet weekly to make decisions.

Annual Review meetings should still be taking place in schools and education settings, although they are unlikely to be face to face. The results of these meetings need to be sent to the Local Authority for consideration.

The EHC teams are working from home and are still available. You can contact them by email using your usual contact details or All our phone lines are now on answerphone.

Our business support staff would like to request that documents are submitted to the EHC team by email instead of by post.

We will continue to review this situation.

Useful resources

We are pleased to be able to provide a document with links to local, national and international webpages with ideas and information and entertainment to aid you and your children while studying at home.

We hope you find it useful.

We continue to offer resources to support our families during this pandemic through our Local Offer website and the social media information posts from the Local Offer team. GOV.UK have also provided resources for home education:

The education, health and care (EHC) process is used to assess a child's special educational needs and decide whether they require an EHC plan to support improved outcomes.
