Service description:

The Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) supports leisure centres to become more welcoming and accessible to disabled people. Achieving the ‘IFI Mark’ gym accreditation is key in addressing inequality in physical activity as it enables leisure facilities to reach inactive populations and raise awareness of the benefits of exercise to get more disabled people physically active.

The IFI encourages changes in the following areas:

  • Business strategy
  • Business leadership
  • Workforce development
  • The accessibility of venues
  • Policies and procedures
  • Equipment
  • Insight and marketing
  • Partnerships and collaboration
  • Programming and participation
  • Impact and outcomes

Activity Alliance's Inclusive Fitness Initiative is run by Quest. Quest is a continuous improvement tool for leisure facilities. Quest is currently managed by Right Directions (Management) Ltd on behalf of Sport England.

Activity Alliance publishes a list of accredited gyms. Find your nearest inclusive, accessible gym here.

Leisure centres that are interested in becoming an IFI Mark facility (through Quest or a stand-alone assessment) should contact Paula Kearney at Right Directions or call 01582 840098.
