The paediatric physiotherapists at Northampton General Hospital are a multi-disciplinary team that provides services for children (aged 0-19 years). They see children with a range of developmental, neurological, neuromuscular, or musculoskeletal difficulties, including:
- Cystic fibrosis
- Down's syndrome
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)
- Neuromuscular conditions
- Musculoskeletal problems (in children aged up to 8 years-old)
The service includes a physiotherapy-led orthopaedic clinic (for the treatment of congenital foot and hip conditions), and some jointly-run orthotic clinics.
Referrals are accepted from healthcare professionals and school SENCos via the Referral Management Centre (RMC).
An equivalent service for the north of the county is provided by NHFT.
