The Children's Audiology Service at Northampton General Hospital provide full hearing tests, diagnosis, hearing aid fitting, and investigations. They offer a comprehensive service (from birth up to the age of 18) for children and young people with a possible or confirmed hearing impairment.
The team work with children and their families, and also work with schools, teachers of the deaf, social care professionals, and speech & language therapists (SALT) to ensure the best outcomes are achieved. Referrals to Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) are sometimes made, and if hearing aids are required they are provided and fitted directly in the clinic.
A monthly clinic is held at Danetre Hospital in Daventry, and the team also visit schools in the Northampton area where necessary.
