The aim of Home Choice is to give people more housing choice and flexibility on where they would like to live.
To make the best use of the very limited housing stock owned by the housing associations in the district and significant increases in the amount of people wanting to be rehoused, the housing register is restricted to make sure those with a qualifying need are given a higher priority to be re-housed.
People will not be eligible to if:
- They do not have a local connection within the Daventry District.
- They own their own home and have no priority to be re-housed.
- They have income or assets sufficient enough to access other housing options.
If a person has a medical condition or a disability that is affected by their current accommodation, they should complete a Medical Self-Assessment Form (2.41MB). In accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme adopted July 2017 (reviewed July 2019), medical needs may be taken into consideration on your application. It will depend on how your current accommodation affects your medical issues.
