Service description:

Northampton College is a further education (FE) provider, with two campuses in Northampton and one in Daventry. It offers a variety of full-time and part-time study options available, from foundation programmes to and Level 1 courses, to Level 2 and Level 3 study programmes. It also offers university-level programmes, professional programmes, and apprenticeships.

Supported Learning Study Programmes

Supported Learning Study Programmes are specifically tailored to meet the needs of young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). The courses are designed to help students develop their skills for adulthood, employment, and independent living. They also support young people to build friendships, understand the community, and stay healthy. In a 2018 report by Ofsted (PDF 236KB), Northampton College's provision for learners with high needs was rated Outstanding.

Additional Learning Support

Northampton College provide support for additional learning needs including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, sensory impairments, and mental health conditions. Support includes:

  • Additional teaching
  • In-class support
  • Communicators, Braille, note-takers, enlarged or voice file hand-outs
  • Access to assistive technology
  • Special arrangements to help with exams
  • Assistance with personal care
  • Information, advice, and guidance from the Student Services team
  • Help with development of literacy, numeracy, language, and study skills
  • Support with English for speakers of other languages

Post-16 Travel Assistance:

Students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who require transport to and from college are advised to contact the college directly for further information.
