Meet the carers: James

“It’s true what other adopters say.  It really is like Molly has always been with us. I can truly say she is the most amazing soul I have ever met!”

Meet James….

James is looking forward to his first Father’s Day this year with his one year old daughter Molly, and his wife Emma.

They became adoptive parents in January this year and say they are enjoying every minute and love having a house full of smiles, giggles and cuddles!

James told us: “Adoption has always been a part of mine and Emma’s families, and sadly after suffering several miscarriages with three quite late on, we decided to explore adoption as a way to have our own family.  We knew there were children who needed a second chance at life with a loving, stable family and we had a lot to offer and wanted to make a difference for these children.

"We went along to the fostering and adoption open evening and met the adoption team who were so friendly, encouraging and supportive, this really made our minds up that adoption was right for us."

Meeting Molly

“Molly was just four months old when we learned about her.  We watched her film and went through her report and she jumped out at us.  Her story really pulled on our heart strings and we knew it was meant to be.  She was so little and had been through so much already, we couldn’t wait to welcome her into our family and give her the childhood she deserved.

“In the lead up to adopting Molly, there were a few delays and hiccups along the way.  The adoption team were absolutely amazing, and helped us through these times, and we feel very lucky to have a social worker that has been demonstrative in ensuring everything has been taken care of in a timely and professional manner.

“Molly has four siblings, three of which have been adopted by a very special family near to where we live which is brilliant for Molly and for us.

‘Just one awesome little mega star’

“Molly has been with us for just over four months now and has come on leaps and bounds.  We feel so fortunate to have shared many of her ‘firsts’ including her first birthday which was so special.  She’s totally settled into her forever home and has really bonded with us and our cat!  We watch her learn and grow more each day, she is a very happy little girl with a great sense of adventure.

"Emma and I look forward to when she wakes in the morning so we can spend time with her. She loves to be out in the garden playing and exploring and loves swimming or anything with water where she can soak herself!"

“Every day when I get home from work she greets me with a huge smile, giggles and cuddles. She’s incredibly funny and she knows she is, she really is one awesome little mega star!

This Father’s Day

“Being a dad on Father’s Day this year really means the world to me.  This will be my first Father’s Day where I can truly celebrate with joy. It’s always been a difficult time of the year remembering our three little daughters we lost so early on.

“This year will be a huge celebration of happiness, remembering the journey we took to get to where we are today. Our little daughter was always meant to be with us, it just took some time for us to meet.

“All I want to do is spend this Father’s Day with Emma and Molly.  It doesn’t matter what we do as long as we are all together. I have a feeling I’ll be totally spoilt but the material things don’t matter as much as our family.

Changing lives for the better

“If you’re thinking about adoption, then I’d really encourage you to go for it.  It will be the most rewarding thing you will ever do.

"You need to be prepared to explore your emotions, it’s not cut and dry, and it can be daunting and a rollercoaster of emotions.  But you won’t look back!  Through adoption, you have the ability to change lives and have your life changed for the better."

“It has brought so much love to our relationship and family, and we’re so excited about our future together and seeing Molly learn, grow and progress. We wish we’d explored adoption sooner!”
