Updating your school admissions register

All schools (including independent schools) must supply the local authority with information on children who transition outside the standard transition points.

For example, if, within the school year, they:

  • start at your school
  • leave your school

New starters

Please let us know as soon as possible when you have been notified by the child's parent or carer and within 5 days of registering new pupils (at the latest within 5 days of the deadline supplied by admissions in the admissions letter).

North Northamptonshire Council

North Northamptonshire Council covers the following areas:

  • Kettering
  • Corby
  • East Northants
  • Wellingborough

If the child attends a school in or near one of these areas, please complete the North Northamptonshire form:

  • Daventry
  • Northampton
  • South Northants

Child leaving

Refer to Annex A (Regulation 8 reason for deletion) of the DfE guidance to confirm the reason for the child leaving.

How to notify us of a child leaving school

Use the table below to check which form you need to complete.

Complete the form depending on which area the child resides in:

​1, 2, 3, 5,  9,  12, 14 or 15

Please select the relevant option when prompted to on the form

​No later than the time at which the pupil's name is to be deleted from the register (for deletion the pupil must satisfy one of the criteria in the regulations)
​Child has left your school and you don't know where they are going

Complete the form depending on which area the child's school is in:

5, 6, 8, 12, 14 or 15

Please add reason to 'Further information' section (section 2) of form

​No later than the time at which the pupil's name is to be deleted from the register (for deletion the pupil must satisfy one of the criteria in the regulations)
​Child has left your school due to be educated at home

Complete the form depending on which area the child resides in:

Complete the form depending on which area the child resides in:

This will not need adding to the form

​Within 24 hours of the exclusion
​Child is deceased
or
child is certified by school medical officer as unlikely to be in a fit state of health to attend school before ceasing to be of compulsory school age
