Oversubscription admission criteria

Children with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan which names the school as appropriate provision will first be admitted.

Where there are more applications for admission than places available, priority will be given in the following order:

  1. Children in public care (looked after children) or previously in public care. But immediately after being looked after became subject to an adoption, a child arrangement order or special guardianship order;
  2. Where there will be an older a sibling in attendance at the school at the date of admission. Sibling refers to brother or sister, half brother or sister, adopted brother or sister, step brother or sister, or the child of the parent or carer’s partner, where the children live at the same address;
  3. Other pupils.

Distance tiebreaker

If the admission number is exceeded within any of the above criteria, priority will be given to those who live closest to the school. Distances are measured from the property to the nearest access point to the school grounds. These are measured on a straight-line basis, using a geographical information system. The point from which your property is measured is known as the ‘address point’. Each address has a unique address point established by the Ordnance Survey and the Royal Mail address files. The address point for a property does not change.

In the case of multiple applications from the same shared dwelling (e.g. flats), random allocation will be used to decide the priority given to each of the pupils within the shared dwelling.
