Service Six provides the Opal Project to support young self-harmers aged 10-18 across Northamptonshire, predominantly in Corby, Northampton and Wellingborough, funded by Children In Need.

The aim of the project is to reduce self-harming behaviour, reduce anxiety and increase confidence.
Opal One-to-One support - A free 1:1 support package for young people who are using self-harm as a coping mechanism and to assist in understanding and dealing with their self-harming behaviour and to identify alternative coping strategies. The support package is reviewed on a regular basis and shaped to the young person’s needs, in line with their presenting need and achieved outcomes
Opal Wellbeing Group Work program - A six week Wellbeing Support Group Work program, assisting young people with their self-harm behaviour, self-esteem and any other barriers that may currently exist. Identifying alternative coping strategies, peer support and other healthy support network. Follow-up session will take place 4-6 weeks after group completion, to re-evaluate the outcomes achieved their progress and if any further support is required.

Support is provided across community facilities, including GP surgeries, Schools and Service Six head quarter across Northamptonshire.

The service is based around client’s needs/availability, but is also depending on venue availabilities.
