Service description:
We offer support, friendship and practical help to parents with at least one child under five years of age, living within the Borough of Wellingborough.
Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and in helping them reach their potential. The scheme works to ensure the safety and well-being of children and their parents within the Borough of Wellingborough.
The scheme supports families through difficult times, offering friendship, practical help, a listening ear, reassurance and encouragement, and help in accessing and using other local groups and services. This results in supported families being less isolated, better equipped to care for their children and more able to play a positive role in the wider community.
Family can have older siblings who need the support but the family must have at least one chilld under five to access the service. They have a parents group every Wednesday morning from 9.30-11.30 for the families they work with. They have volunteers who visit the family every week for about two hours like a mentor. The volunteers are paired with the family so that they fit together.
