Service description:
YaketyYak is a developing group of parents and professionals in the Northamptonshire area. It is intended to help to support parents and families with children and young people who use communication aids of any type.
We aim to achieve this by focussing in two particular areas:
By providing advice and support to parents and families of the children and young children on the types of communication aids that are available and the issues that surround their effective use. Real life experience of other parents and families can help others in their choice of equipment or to help to deal with problems as they arise. For this reason we have included a forum on this website. Please post a question or explain an issue if you would like some help, but please note that this is a public forum. Professionals as well as other parents may be able to help you.
By promoting and signposting events in the area that may enable you or your family to meet others in a similar position. This helps children and young people to realise they are not alone and that others struggle with similar issues. These events also enable you to meet other parents and families in a similar situation.
If you would like any further information on YaketyYak or would like to become involved please e:mail info@yaketyyak.org.uk or visit www.yaketyyak.org.uk
