There are 170 parks in the Northampton area, and 54 of those have playgrounds. Abington Park and Becket’s Park are the most notable.
Abington Park is a 117-acre Victorian park built on the archaeological remains of a medieval village. It’s rolling grassy areas are home to 352 species of trees, a 13th century church, and a museum. The park also boasts sports facilities, flower displays, lakes, a sensory garden, toilet facilities, an aviary, a fitness trail, a bandstand, a cafe, and a modern playground.
Becket's Park is a traditional 20-acre park, built along the bank of the River Nene in the 18th century. It features tree-lined walks, a modern 80-berth marina, grassland, a playground, and sports facilities (including tennis courts and bowling green). Please note: there are no toilets at Becket's Park.
