As a faith representative, you will have the opportunity to be involved in making sure the emergency response guidance reflects the needs of your faith and also to support your community in the times of need. It is vital that we are prepared to deal appropriately with casualties and their families from all sorts of faith backgrounds. We know that shock and grief is made a little more bearable if it is clear that those responding to the situation on the ground have dealt with the victim in a sensitive and thoughtful way that honours the requirements of his or her faith, and that they continue to display this sensitivity in working with the affected families.
