Coronavirus update - Temporary library closures

Northamptonshire Libraries are closed to the public until further notice. Any items due back during this time will be renewed until libraries re-open and no fines will be incurred.

Library members can still access a range of e-books, e-audiobooks, e-newspapers and e-magazines from home through our online subscriptions.

e-Reads and Audiobooks

For anyone who is not currently a member, it is easy to join the library as a virtual member and take advantage of these resources.

Access to Registration Offices for those with appointments will still be possible.

You can still apply for a bus pass or blue badge online.

Parking

There are charged-for parking bays on Abington Street where the library entrance is located.

Alternatively, the nearest public car park is behind the library in the Ridings. This offers short stay (maximum 3 hours), charged-for parking.

Toilets

Toilet for under 5s and parents, baby changing facilities available.

Disabled access

This library is wheelchair accessible.

We hold a large collection of local and family history resources in our Discover area at Northamptonshire Central Library.

We hold subscriptions to online business resources and run workshops and also information and advice sessions on self-employment and intellectual property for entrepreneurs, inventors and small businesses.

​Get involved!

There's more to the library than you think. Lots of our services for the community rely on support from our volunteers. What could you do?

How do you become a volunteer?

Search the Get Involved Hub for all current library volunteering vacancies.

You can apply online to register your interest in an opportunity. There is an interview process and all successful volunteers will be asked to supply details of referees. Volunteers for some roles are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

We will provide any training that is necessary to assist in volunteering roles.
