Aim of Course:
To become familiar with the night sky. Be able to identify familiar constellations and know the different objects found in the night sky.
Learning Outcomes:
(By the end of the course you should be able to)
a) Identify the major seasonal constellations
b) Name and identify the major planets
c) Name what other types of objects are visible in the sky
d) Set up and use a beginner's telescope
How will the course be taught?:
Presentations and practical demonstrations. If skies are clear we will be observing the night sky.
Do I need any prior knowledge or qualifications?:
No prior knowledge is required.
What do I need to bring?:
Dress warmly, and bring any astronomical equipment you have for practical advice on its use. Please also bring your own lunch & drinks.
